EDD 425 - Linguistics of ASL

This course is designed to introduce students to linguistic elements such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and sociolinguistics. The elements will be applied to American Sign Language (ASL) and compared to linguistic features of English. Understanding the differences between ASL and English linguistics, application of linguistic features to a discourse, and usage of critical thinking to evaluate produced tests are goals of the course. This is a cross-listed course; undergraduates can take EDD 425/525 for graduate level credit.
