NAS 151 - Environmental Chemistry I Credits: 4
Prerequisite(s): MAT 135 or placement. This course provides a quantitative introduction to fundamental chemistry concepts that underlie critical environmental issues. These concepts include atomic structure, bonding, molecular structure, and basic thermodynamics. These concepts are directly linked to environmental processes through examples and case studies of current topics. The laboratory also covers basic analytical chemistry techniques while reinforcing concepts learned in lecture. This course satisfies the General Education IV. Ways of Knowing, category b. Natural Scientific Inquiry requirement. A lab fee is required for this course.
