EDD 470/560 - Methods of Teaching Language to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Prerequisite(s): Passing score on the FTCE General Knowledge Exam, EDD 349, EDD 370, EEL 301, and acceptance into the Education Department.
Principles and techniques of teaching language, reading, and writing skills to deaf and hard-of-hearing children in grades four and beyond. There is particular emphasis on the teaching of reading and literacy skills with deaf and hard-of-hearing students. 30-hour practicum required. Offered spring semester only. This course is conducted in American Sign Language. A 30 hour practicum in a self-contained classroom or itinerant setting is required. Offered spring semester only.
