Psychology Major
|
|
The curriculum within the Psychology Program at Flagler College emphasizes psychology as a basic and applied science and is based on the American Psychological Association undergraduate learning goals and objectives. As students explore psychological principles, research questions, methods, diversity and ethical standards, they are challenged to think critically and independently, and to communicate ideas and conclusions effectively. The psychology program is designed to provide the background knowledge and foundational skills necessary to prepare students for the professional workforce as well as graduate study in psychology. In addition, students are encouraged to pursue independent research and internship experiences in the local community. Internship positions are available to students of junior or senior standing who have obtained a minimum cumulative average of 3.0 and permission from the instructor. Internship hours do not count toward a major area of concentration or toward minor areas of study in behavioral sciences. The major requires 43 hours; at least 12 of those hours must be at the 400 level in Psychology.
